Withdrawal, Returns & Refund Policy
Last updated: 1 August 2026
This policy applies to purchases from The Olive Temple – A.M.G Karabelas P.C., Floka 0, 27065 Ancient Olympia, Greece, Registration Number 15349042500, VAT Number 801283911. It explains our shipping, cancellation, withdrawal, return, refund, customs and transport-related terms.
Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any mandatory consumer right that cannot lawfully be waived. Where the mandatory law applicable to a particular contract gives the consumer greater protection, that mandatory law prevails.
1. Difference between online and in-store purchases
Online and other distance purchases
A contract is generally a distance contract where it is concluded without the simultaneous physical presence of the business and the consumer, through an organised online, telephone or other distance-sales process.
Where a statutory right of withdrawal applies under the law governing the contract, including qualifying distance contracts protected by European Union or European Economic Area consumer law, the consumer may withdraw without giving a reason within the applicable withdrawal period described below.
For customers outside the European Union and European Economic Area, cancellation and return rights may differ according to the mandatory law applicable to the contract. Unless such mandatory law grants a right of withdrawal or The Olive Temple has expressly agreed to a commercial return, this policy does not create a voluntary fourteen-day change-of-mind return right for non-EU/EEA purchases.
Purchases concluded at our physical premises
The statutory fourteen-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts does not automatically apply to a purchase concluded in person at our physical premises merely because payment was made by card or because the goods are shipped to the customer at a later time.
Whether a contract is an in-store or distance contract depends on how and where the contract was actually concluded. Returns requested only because the customer changed their mind after an in-store purchase are governed by any commercial return terms expressly agreed at the time of purchase and by any mandatory law applicable to that purchase.
This distinction does not affect mandatory rights where goods are defective, damaged, incorrectly supplied or otherwise not in conformity with the contract.
2. Shipping information
All parcels sent to our customers are insured against loss.
Parcels are normally shipped by Greek Post or another carrier selected by The Olive Temple. After the order has been completed with the necessary shipping details, the customer will receive an order-confirmation email at the address provided. Customers should also check their spam or junk folder.
The shipment or tracking number is normally sent by SMS or email using the contact details provided with the order. The customer is responsible for ensuring that those contact details are accurate and for monitoring the shipment using the tracking information supplied.
The estimated delivery time is ordinarily 4–5 weeks from the date of the order, unless a different estimate is stated for the order. Delivery estimates are not guaranteed. Customs procedures, carrier disruption, increased shipment volumes, public holidays and other circumstances outside our reasonable control may cause delays.
All orders are carefully packed in sturdy packaging and protected with appropriate materials. Each product may be packed separately to reduce contact with other items during transport.
3. Delivery information and failed delivery
If you do not receive tracking information within 10 working days from the date of your order, or if the parcel has not arrived within the stated delivery estimate, please contact us promptly so that we can investigate.
We are not responsible for tracking messages that are not received because the customer supplied an incorrect email address or telephone number.
If delivery fails because the customer supplied incorrect or incomplete information, was unavailable for delivery, failed to collect the parcel, refused to complete lawful import formalities or refused to pay destination-country charges for which the customer was responsible, the customer may be required to pay the documented costs of return, storage, customs handling and reshipment, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
If a returned parcel is to be sent again, the customer must pay the applicable return and reshipment costs unless the failed delivery was caused by The Olive Temple, the carrier or another circumstance for which the customer is not legally responsible.
If an order is not delivered due to the fault of the transport company, The Olive Temple may offer a replacement at no additional charge or another remedy required by applicable law.
4. Customs duties, tariffs, taxes and international deliveries
Orders shipped outside the European Union may be subject to import duties, tariffs, sales or use taxes, customs-clearance charges, brokerage fees, carrier handling fees or other charges imposed by the destination country.
Unless the checkout, order confirmation or another written agreement expressly states that such charges are included or prepaid by The Olive Temple, the recipient is responsible for acting as importer and for paying all destination-country import duties, tariffs, taxes, customs charges and brokerage fees. These charges are separate from the product price and shipping charge paid to The Olive Temple.
Import duties, tariffs, taxes or customs fees paid directly by the customer to a customs authority, postal operator, courier or customs broker are not received by The Olive Temple and are not refundable by The Olive Temple. The customer may contact the relevant customs authority, carrier or broker to determine whether a separate refund, drawback or remission procedure is available.
The Olive Temple is not responsible for delays caused by customs authorities, security inspections or the customer’s failure to complete import requirements.
Our company is not responsible for advising customers on the customs, tariff or tax rules of every destination country. Customers are responsible for obtaining information about charges and import restrictions that may apply in their country before ordering.
5. Cancellation before dispatch
If the customer wishes to cancel an order before it has been dispatched, they should contact us as soon as possible by email or telephone. If dispatch has not yet taken place and cancellation is operationally possible, the order will be cancelled and the amount paid will be refunded.
If the order has already been dispatched, the request will be handled under the statutory withdrawal provisions, any applicable mandatory law and the international-return terms set out in this policy.
6. Statutory right of withdrawal for qualifying distance contracts
Where a statutory right of withdrawal applies to the contract, the consumer may withdraw without giving any reason within fourteen (14) calendar days, unless a different mandatory period applies or a statutory exception applies.
For a contract for the sale of goods, the fourteen-day period generally expires fourteen (14) calendar days after the day on which the consumer, or a third party indicated by the consumer other than the carrier, acquires physical possession of the goods. Where multiple goods ordered in one order are delivered separately, the period generally runs from receipt of the last item.
For a service contract where a right of withdrawal applies, the period generally starts on the day the contract is concluded.
How to exercise the right
To exercise the right of withdrawal, the consumer must inform us of the decision through a clear and unequivocal statement before the applicable period expires.
The statement may be sent to:
The Olive Temple – A.M.G Karabelas P.C.
Floka 0, 27065 Ancient Olympia, Greece
Email: theolivetemple [at] gmail [dot] com — use our secure contact form
Telephone: +30 26240 22074
The consumer may also submit the statement through our electronic withdrawal function:
Use of the electronic function is not compulsory where applicable law allows another valid method. It is sufficient for the statement to be sent before the withdrawal period expires.
Following successful online submission, we will send an acknowledgement of receipt on a durable medium without undue delay. The acknowledgement will include the content of the statement and the date and time of submission.
7. Return of goods
Where the statutory right of withdrawal applies, the consumer must return or hand over the goods without undue delay and no later than fourteen (14) calendar days after informing us of the decision to withdraw.
The goods must be returned to:
The Olive Temple – A.M.G Karabelas P.C.
Floka 0, 27065 Ancient Olympia, Greece
The consumer bears the direct cost of returning the goods, unless The Olive Temple has expressly agreed to bear that cost or mandatory law provides otherwise. Return shipments sent cash-on-delivery or with transport charges payable by The Olive Temple may be refused unless agreed in writing or required by mandatory law.
The goods must be packed safely and returned with sufficient information to identify the customer, the original order and the returned items. We recommend using a trackable service and retaining proof of dispatch.
Returns from outside the European Union
Before dispatching a return from outside the European Union, the customer must contact The Olive Temple for practical customs instructions. This contact requirement does not invalidate a statutory withdrawal that was otherwise exercised on time, but it is necessary to avoid unnecessary customs charges and delays.
The return shipment must include the original order or invoice details and must be accurately declared as returned goods in accordance with the instructions of the carrier and customs authorities. The customer must not declare the return as a gift, a new sale or with an inaccurate value.
Where the legal conditions are met, The Olive Temple will use reasonable efforts to seek the available returned-goods relief from import duty or import VAT when the goods re-enter the European Union. Relief is not guaranteed and customs-brokerage, carrier-handling, storage or administrative charges may still apply.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the customer is responsible for documented and avoidable customs, brokerage, storage or handling charges caused by inaccurate or incomplete return documentation, an incorrect customs declaration or failure to follow the provided return instructions.
8. Refunds
Where the statutory right of withdrawal applies, The Olive Temple will reimburse the payments received in connection with the withdrawn contract, including the cost of the least expensive standard delivery method offered by us, without undue delay and no later than fourteen (14) calendar days after being informed of the decision to withdraw.
If the customer selected a delivery method that was more expensive than the least expensive standard delivery method offered, the additional delivery cost will not be reimbursed.
For sales of goods, we may withhold reimbursement until we have received the returned goods or until the consumer provides evidence that the goods have been sent back, whichever occurs first.
Any duties, tariffs, taxes, customs charges or brokerage fees paid by the customer directly to third parties are not part of the amount received by The Olive Temple and are not included in our refund. Any refund of those amounts must be requested from the authority, carrier or broker that collected them.
Where no statutory withdrawal right applies and The Olive Temple voluntarily accepts a change-of-mind return, the refund and any deduction of original shipping, return shipping, customs or handling costs will be governed by the written commercial return terms agreed for that return and by applicable mandatory law.
Refund method
Where required by applicable law, reimbursement will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original transaction, unless another method is expressly agreed with the customer without additional cost.
- Online card payment: the refund will normally be processed through the original card transaction.
- PayPal or another online payment service: the refund will normally be processed through the original payment-service transaction.
- Bank transfer or bank deposit: the refund may be made to a verified bank account associated with the customer or payer, subject to reasonable identity and fraud-prevention checks.
- Card payment made at our physical premises: an approved refund will be processed through the POS terminal or relevant payment provider according to the provider’s procedures. The customer may be required to present the original receipt and the card used for the transaction.
Customers must not send complete card numbers, PINs, card-verification codes or photographs of payment cards by email or through another unprotected communication channel. If the original transaction cannot be refunded through the original payment system, another method may be agreed after the necessary identity and transaction checks.
Refunds are made in the currency of the original transaction. The Olive Temple is not responsible for exchange-rate differences, foreign-bank charges or card-issuer charges that it does not receive or control, except where mandatory law provides otherwise.
9. Condition of returned goods and diminished value
Where the statutory right of withdrawal applies, the consumer may inspect the goods only to the extent necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning. The consumer is responsible for any diminished value resulting from handling beyond what would normally be necessary to examine the goods.
Low-pressure conditions during air transport may cause slight deformation of metal olive oil containers. Slight cosmetic deformation alone does not automatically entitle the customer to replacement or refund where the container remains safe, sealed and functional and the contents are unaffected. This does not limit mandatory rights where the goods are damaged, unsafe, leaking, defective or otherwise not in conformity with the contract.
10. Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply where a statutory exception validly applies. Exceptions relevant to our activities may include:
- Safety-sealed goods: sealed goods that are not suitable for return for genuine health-protection or hygiene reasons and that have been unsealed after delivery. For bottled olive oil and other safety-sealed food products, this exception may apply only where the bottle’s tamper-evident safety seal has been broken and the product is consequently no longer suitable for return for genuine food-safety or hygiene reasons. Opening only an external box while the bottle and its safety seal remain intact does not activate this exception.
- Scheduled leisure services: tours, tastings, workshops or similar leisure activities where the contract provides for performance on a specific date, at a specific time or during a specific period.
- Fully performed services: where a service has been fully performed after the consumer gave the legally required prior express consent and acknowledgement that the right of withdrawal would be lost upon full performance.
An exception to the change-of-mind right does not remove mandatory rights relating to defective, damaged, unsafe, incorrectly supplied or non-conforming goods or services.
11. Transport-related claims
If an order is lost or not delivered due to the fault of the transport company and the customer does not wish to receive a replacement, a refund may be issued under this transport-related policy.
This transport-related section does not limit the statutory right of withdrawal, rights relating to defective or non-conforming goods or any other mandatory right under applicable consumer-protection law.
Approved transport-related refunds that do not arise from a statutory withdrawal are ordinarily processed within 15 working days after approval.
A request concerning transport damage should be made as soon as reasonably possible and preferably within 5 days after delivery so that evidence can be preserved and a carrier claim can be investigated. This requested notification period does not shorten or remove any longer mandatory statutory right.
12. Model withdrawal form
Where a right of withdrawal applies, the following model may be used, although its use is not compulsory:
